Yesterday, whatever. Glad the AC works. I can see why people like to drive these, they’re comfortable, quiet, fast enough, and still look pretty striking. But I just don’t really like them, they don’t do anything for me. To its credit though, this one in particular hasn’t been a bad car for the two owners we’ve maintained it for. A few large bills here and there, but for almost 169k miles it’s not been bad, a testament to the strength of the M113 engine and 722.6 transmission when well cared for.
Also, Fall, my ass.

Sadly, was expecting this to be a post by Dolla Bill Jake when I read the title.
Looks pretty clean, though! Nice!

101 degrees? Global warming!
It’s as big as an East Germany building so most curious I would be about it’s handling. Any good?

I love those big 4 passenger coupes. It is a dying segment though...

I’ll guess 2003? Might as well drive it and use it, as resale value is up there with week old bread.
Around 80 in the Seattle area yesterday, mid 60s early this morning, definitely warm.

Wanna trade? Maybe send some actual seasons with the next HWEP?

Remember this day when it’s -30 wind chills here sometime this winter :)

It is unfortunate, I think the big coupe idea has given the world some of its greatest cars.

2003, yes. It wouldn’t be hard for this car to eat its value in repairs someday, but it hasn’t yet.
Already 70 a mile from the ocean driving in at 8 this morning, I’m over this.

GT cars are the greatest cars, and are jack of all trade types.
Huge engine, RWD, room for 4, luggage room, and cruises comfortably at high speeds.

Seriously, I’ve lived in this area my entire life and this doesn’t happen so late!
For something so large, the handling isn’t bad. I haven’t really thrown it around because it’s not mine, but there are a couple of fun corners on my commute. This is an ABC car so to a certain extent the handling feels disconnected from reality. The chassis is good, but quicker steering and better seat bolsters would really help it.

If it would stop breaking.

I suspect losing a transmission or needing major engine work would do it. However, as you say, those are strong points. I notice all the pixels are working too, that’s not always the case.
It’ll be wetter and cooler up here by the weekend, I don’t mind. Tired of running the AC all the time.

This car actually had an instrument cluster die years ago, when they were on intergalactic backorder. As I recall, it was weeks of waiting and over $1500. The engine is the least of my worries, those things run forever. The transmission is unlikely to make it much past 200k, but to get that out of any auto is pretty damn good.

I had a W210 E55 AMG for some time. I picked it up when it was 4 years old and had ~25K miles on it. Even by then ,some pixels had failed. I bought an aftermarket warranty with the car - I think cluster replacement alone was more than half the warranty price.
I had the car for many years, and had the transmission fluid changed after 40K. I’ve read that’s a weak spot on the car. But service them, and it keeps up. Never had an engine issue, but the rear main seal developed a leak (hello again, warranty).
